Not wanting to live in the chilling fear of government spying ; data archiving etc.
i just want to send out a lovely greeting to all who may read or contribute to this blog. It is time for me to acknowledge that fear can have as much power as i give it.
This government wants us to feel the chill, to limit our discourse, communications and our right to assemble peacefully. WE do have a bill of rights, a Constitution. As good citizens we must dissent and bring our grievances to forefront, in this free country. Cowering is not an option but is an expected mechanism of a planned precondition of the police state being implemented under our collective noses. Scared is how they want us, whether we have quote : something to hide or not. So we don’t notice what is going on around us. To that “other guy”.
People are being disappeared in this country now. They are people of color, so called illegal immigrants or aliens. We are in the position of being “good Germans” today , right now. Its not a good feeling. Lets not forget the red carpet has been rolled out by big corporations and law enforcement for several decades to keep wages down. There are transnationals that depend on this , global free trade the biggest sham of all. Its not free it is built on the blood and sweat of workers. And not only the poorest either..How much is that American IT degree worth nowadays..if effects us all.
Now suddenly these workers are felons! NO its not right , where is due process ? Where are the punishments for the employers ? No instead families are being punished. The little guy. Where is the love of this so called Christian Nation ? Ask the Native Americans what Christian love did for them.
Let us not fool ourselves a minute longer..Genocide is acceptable to many Americans. Look at the Japanese during world war two. Camps are easy to build. New ones are being constructed as we speak. This transcends political parties. It is a human moral issue. Jingoistic hysteria must be quelled. There are not terrorists behind every bush. Terror itself is a criminal act and ought to be be dealt with as such. After all we all presumed innocent until proven guilty. The government attaches the “terror” tag on any crime and sentences become more severe, ie. eco- terrorism. Its going too far. It must stop. Americans are not superior to any other people or countries. We are a melting pot remember ? We are supposed to be at least. Where are those values nowadays? We are supposed to value education. Look what they are doing to our schools, rewriting history and not even teaching kids the facts of life. What are we coming to ?
In order to fight this fear..first i acknowledge it..then have to jump in..after all really we are specs of dust in this universe. But collectively we can be a storm and wash away the erosion of our civil rights and bring about a new day. We can do this locally in our own towns and fields of interests. Small acts of change empowerment all add up. No act is too small. Be it a buying from the farmers market, a letter to the editor or attending a Quaker meeting or Pow Wow. Helping a friend access medical care. Recycling old clothes vs. buying new. We do have the power.
The Internet has brought us so much knowledge..and knowledge is power. It is up to each of us, with the help of our friends to empower ourselves and each other. Our collective spirits are strong. We can fight the powers that do oppress us with our many small acts. Helping a friend keep up with the heating bills, cooking at home and sharing..the list is endless. Car pooling. Having a barter system in your neighborhood.
This tiny eclectic blog , its contributors and commenters are people that will not give into fear. People who can uplift with small acts of kindness and courage. It is with love i invite you all to speak your minds.
There are no non sequitors on this blog..Have at it !
There is no act to small to count. It can mean a healthy spiritual withdrawal in order to renew. Planting your garden, sowing seeds of change with your co workers or family. Mostly we must not lose hope or feel overwhelmed by fears this empire does attempt to engender. We must speak our truthes , stand up for the oppressed be they the LGBT community, the undocumented immagrants or the poor with no access to health care. We must teach our children to love and to critically evaluate what is happening in our culture. No amount of stuff can replace a parents time and example. Children learn to hate and hate is not a family value.

If you allow yourself to become paralyzed by fear, the jack-booted thugs have already won.
Way to Go! Your fight may be mostly “unwinnable,” but as you say, every little bit helps.
Love, all is love & hope. And some compassion & intelligence……..
Every bit does help, we can change the consciousness of this country slowly but surely. Indeed we are. And we can count on change. Change is the one certainty nature abors a vacuum.
